PETROGLYPHS
If you like to explore, come and see the Petroglyphs of ”Altavista”
In Chacala it is possible to observe interesting petroglyphs that tell us about its ancient inhabitants. In fact, just a few minutes from here, exactly ten kilometers away, are the "Altavista" petroglyphs, an impressive set of stone carvings in the middle of the thick jungle and on the banks of a stream. They are voices of ancient testimonies, of hundreds of years of mythological traditions elaborated by the original inhabitants of the region, beautiful abstract and symbolic expressions, which were carved with solid and sharp stones. The good condition in which most of the petroglyphs are preserved is surprising.
Their greatest importance today lies in the fact that they are one more element to unravel the mystery of the cosmogony and the belief system of the ancient settlers.
Experts agree that these are over a thousand years old
You cannot miss them!
